AI Policy For Editors

AI and Generative Technologies Policy for Editors

The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Explorer (IJMRE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in its editorial processes. Editors play a vital role in ensuring that all manuscripts are handled responsibly and without compromising author confidentiality or data privacy.

Confidentiality

  • All submitted manuscripts must be treated as strictly confidential. Editors must not upload any manuscript or part of it into a generative AI tool, as this could violate the authors’ confidentiality, proprietary rights, or data privacy regulations.
  • This confidentiality obligation extends to all editorial communications, including decision letters, reviewer invitations, and internal correspondence, as they may contain sensitive information about the manuscript or its authors.
  • Editors should not use AI tools to draft, edit, or refine such communications, even for purposes like improving grammar or readability, to avoid any potential data exposure.

Use of AI in Editorial Decision-Making

  • The editorial assessment and decision-making process require human judgment, critical thinking, and subject expertise. Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must not be used to evaluate, interpret, or decide on the scientific content or quality of manuscripts.
  • Editors are fully responsible and accountable for all editorial evaluations, reviewer selections, and final decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts.
  • Reliance on AI tools for evaluative or decision-making purposes may result in biased, incomplete, or incorrect outcomes and is therefore prohibited.

AI Disclosure and Oversight

  • IJMRE allows authors to use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies for manuscript preparation, but only with proper disclosure. Editors can find such declarations in the AI Disclosure section at the end of a paper, before the references.
  • If an editor suspects a violation of the journal’s AI or ethical policies by authors or reviewers, it should be immediately reported to the publisher or Editor-in-Chief for appropriate action.

AI in Editorial Workflows

  • IJMRE may use AI-assisted tools internally for limited editorial purposes such as plagiarism checks, metadata validation, or reviewer recommendations.
  • All such tools are operated under strict data protection and confidentiality standards, ensuring compliance with privacy and security regulations.
  • These systems are used only as aids and do not replace the editor’s independent evaluation or decision-making responsibility.

Responsibility and Accountability

  • Editors are personally responsible for maintaining confidentiality and upholding the integrity of the editorial process.
  • Any misuse of AI that compromises confidentiality, fairness, or ethical standards may result in appropriate corrective action or removal from editorial duties.

IJMRE embraces the use of responsible and secure AI-driven technologies that support editors and reviewers while safeguarding the integrity, transparency, and confidentiality of the publication process.
