AI Policy for Reviewers
AI and Generative Technologies Policy for Reviewers
The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Explorer (IJMRE) upholds the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in the peer review process. Reviewers play a crucial role in evaluating manuscripts, and the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in this process must follow strict guidelines.
Confidentiality
- Manuscripts submitted for review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not upload a submitted manuscript, or any part of it, into a generative AI tool, as this may violate the authors’ confidentiality, proprietary rights, or data privacy.
- This confidentiality also applies to the peer review report. Reviewers must not use AI tools to process, refine, or analyze their review reports in ways that could compromise confidential information.
Use of AI in Scientific Evaluation
- Peer review requires critical thinking, expertise, and original assessment. Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must not be used to assist in evaluating the scientific content of a manuscript.
- Reviewers are solely responsible and accountable for the content and quality of their review report. AI cannot replace human judgment, and its use may lead to incomplete, biased, or incorrect conclusions about a manuscript.
Language and Readability
- If reviewers wish to use AI for improving grammar, spelling, or language clarity in their own review report, it is permitted only if no confidential or proprietary manuscript information is included in the AI tool.
AI in Editorial Workflow
- IJMRE may use AI-assisted technologies internally to support editorial processes, such as plagiarism checks, reviewer assignment, or manuscript screening. These tools are controlled by the journal and comply with data privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Such AI tools do not replace human judgment in peer review and are designed to assist editors and staff only.
Responsibility
- Reviewers remain fully responsible for their evaluations, comments, and recommendations.
- Any misuse of AI that compromises confidentiality or the integrity of the review process may result in revocation of reviewer privileges and other appropriate actions by the journal.
